Day 6

Day 6 Part 1
I feel like I need to share this now that it's fresh on my mind.
Well you know how I've been bragging about having GREAT sleep? Well last night was an exception. I took the Smooth Moove before bed as usual, but for some reason it kicked my butt last night. It woke me up at 3:30a.m. ish with diarrhea pains and had to run to the bathroom. I had to do wake up 2 times to handle my business,  and it was hard for me to fall back asleep both times. Not only that, I had dreams of cheating on my cleanse! It was odd. I was hanging out with my bestie VQ and she made me eat 6 blueberries!  Out of all the things in the world I cheated on my cleanse with BLUEBERRIES. hahaha
So I woke up kinda tired, a little grumpy. I WILL get over this. I did the salt water flush and it was first time that it made me gag. I think it has to do with me being tired. I haven't had my first lemonade yet, I just don't quite feel like it.
As far as my waste....it's interesting, I'm disposing of some mucus a lot of mucous. Also I am getting rid of mucous from my nose and throat. GO DETOX!!!
I have an appointment later on for a massage which I am really excited about. I read that its good to schedule massages when your doing the cleanse so that way it just aids in the detox process.  I am also planning on doing a detox bath while on the cleanse. I will post about it more later and give you the recipe because my tummy just started growling, so that's my cue to drink some tasty lemonade.

People STINK! Day 5. Half way there

People STINK literally they STINK! I wonder if that is the way I usually smell like? What I mean is, this cleanse is making me have a bionic nose, I can smell things I shouldn't be able to. The most pungent smell by far though is GARLIC. It seems like EVERYONE smells like garlic.
Today I went to a place where there were many people and I had to stay in close proximity for like 2 hrs. Well many of them smelled like garlic. Not the "just cooking and makes me hungry" kind of garlic, its the "I ate garlic last night and this is what it smells like coming out of my pores".
I guess since garlic is good for you, I should be happy that its all over. But how are they consuming garlic is my question? Garlic butter spread? Garlic on fettuccine alfredo smothered with a whole lot of cream? I got overwhelmed at some point smelling the garlic seeping out of everyone pores.  Others had really rotten breath. I tried not to smell it, but it seemed the more I tried not to, the egg smell was in my face. Other smells I got were peoples deodorant fighting the B.O. You know just the right amount of funk to make it smell, not so fresh-out-of the shower anymore. Hahaha I sound like some sniffing freak!
Truth is, I am.
Ok beside the smell, today was a good day. I am still freezing. The weather is not helping any. I seriously have anxious thoughts of having to go out in the cold and dreary world. I need a full face mask. Like the ones the robbers wear when they are going to rob a bank. I have the heater cranked at 74 deg and I stand in front of our fire place. The rest of my family has rosy cheeks because they are all hot. But I'm the momma and if they know what's good for 'em, they will keep momma happy.
Something I need to mention about day 4, is that after I wrote my post. I got soooo hungry! I was so hungry until I fell asleep. I just did not let it get to me. I guess I could have gotten up and made some more lemonade, but the whole LAZY factor played a huge role here....so I dealt with it.
Ok so something I will share with yawl is going to be TMI. So if your scared of poop, stop reading now.....but you know on this cleanse you poop a whole heck of a lot.
I'm sure I mentioned that the laxative tea is my least favorite part of the cleansing experience, well since you have to drink it every night for this cleanse to be successful I follow do it like a good little girl, but I hate it. I don't like the taste. I don't like what it makes my body feel. First of all I love my sleep, and the tea seems to kick in, like clock work around the 6 o' clock hour! My tummy starts to feel turney (not a real word) and I have to poo. Getting out of the warm, delicious bed makes me angry!---
I know why its necessary though, it gets whatever is left behind. I really don't feel like I have ANYTHING left after not eating solid food for over 7 days, but I guess I do.
And I am so happy I am doing this cleanse, because what you are about to see, came out of ME. I had no idea it was in me. I usually don't look because I do not want to be scared, but I did, and I was astounded. I got rid of what looks like maybe parasites? Or worms? hahah Whatever it is, It's out of me now.
I WARNED YOU!!!

Beside that my day went great. My best friend cooked my family dinner. THANK YOU VQ!!!!
She made them spaghetti with GARLIC bread. SO I guess I can't run away or avoid the darn garlic smell EVER!!!

Day 2-4 of Master Cleanse

I'm going to update of the things I have noticed in the days I have completed:
Day 2:   I think my body was in shock! I woke up not only grumpy and weak. I think this has been the hardest day. It was Saturday, ugly outside and all I wanted to do is cuddle up and sleep. I didn't but thats what I wanted to do.
Day 3:    Sunday. I woke up with all sorts of energy. I went to church, we have 9:00a.m. church and I am so happy that our building has bathrooms that are close by. The salt water flush decided to do its thang during the first hour of church. I did get at least 3 compliments saying that I looked good. One girl said that my face looked better (could it be because I actually did my make up?) Well regardless, I will take it!  :) I wasn't as tempted to eat food as day 1&2. I took a 2 hr nap and oh man it was THE BEST nap I have taken. Afterwards I went to the in-laws for dinner. My MIL made some yummy broccoli & cheese soup. Usually I can eat the whole crock pot of it if allowed. And my stomach did growl a couple of times, but she let me borrow her sauna while they ate (another great way to detox) I decided to read scriptures while in the sauna, and I had a really clear mind on what I read. I loved being able to just have "me" time. I have a  very supporting family. When I came back up, they were eating fresh baked chocolate chip cookies!!! (seriously????)
I never really realized how much food really controls us. It is EVERYWHERE, and I mean EVERYWHERE. In magazines, Pinterest, FB, Instagram. Just everywhere. I do not care where you are at, food is there in your face staring at you. I have come to the realization, that I will take control on the food that I put in my mouth because I have the will power of a ......of a..... well you know what I mean.
My sense of smell is very sensitive as it is, but the fast has multiplied it. My entire family STILL smells like broccoli soup. Even the baby! haha I washed all their clothes and jackets because the smell was getting a little sickning.
Day4:  I woke up at 6:45 am. And for those who know me, I am NOT a morning person what-so-ever. I have been waking up a lot better ( I usually wake up crabby).
One thing I must mention is that I have been having the BEST sleep. I have read that when your on the cleanse you sleep so good. And that is the honest truth. I think if you  have sleep problems, cleanse!  I am not sure I dream or not, but I just know that I do wake up rested. I've also read that when you clean your liver, you sleep better.
I think my least favorite thing about this cleanse is the Laxative Herbal tea that needs to be taken at night. I get tummy aches in the morning and that is usually a sign of having to handle my business.
I had a meeting with some ladies from church in the morning and it went a little bit over, I didn't take my lemonade with me because having to haul 3 young girls out of the house was more than I can handle. I even forgot my phone at home. So as I was saying, it went over and hunger did peek its nasty little head, I was also thirsty so with the combination of the two, I started getting  a little cranky, jittery and a slight headache started coming on. As soon as I got home, I drank some tasty water and then had my lemonade, and it was amazing what it did. I felt so much better, within 15 minutes, I felt normal.
One thing I do feel is COLD. I am cold all the time. My husband had to turn the thermostat up to 74* and I have a thick sweatshirt on and my hands, nose and toes are still really cold. It can have something to do with the nasty weather we've been having. {Won't bore you with a weather rant, but its been a LONG winter this year...'nuff said}
I did a crock pot dinner tonight. The cravings have are not  as bad as they have been. I think what gets me is the SMELL. So as I was preparing the food, I put a mask on with some orange essential oils in it. hahahah And it worked!
My brother-in-law Jake decided to come over for dinner, and afterwards, he decided to go get some ice cream. I'm not even tempted! I don't even care that I am not enjoying it in my mouth.
What's funny is that what I want to eat is sweet potato and quinoa! hmmmm
I hope my cravings for sweets, big burgers and ice cream get gone!
So that concludes day 4, well almost. It's 7:00p.m. and I'm done with my 8 servings of lemonade.  I haven't really drank the peppermint tea, which I will have now.
G'night

Cleansing From the Inside Out :My Master Cleanse Journey

For some reason or another I feel the need to have to document my experience with what I'm doing. I have seen posts of peoples journey and reading them has helped me make the decision to go without food for 10 days.
Yes I know, I know, it sounds pretty dramatic. 10 days with NO food???
A little bit of what the master cleanse is:
It's also called the "Lemonade Diet"  That means only drinking a lemonade concoction.
Here is the basic recipe to the lemonade:
  • the juice of 1/2 of a lemon (organic)
  • 1Tablespoon of Grade B Maple syrup (I used Grade A because that is what they have at Costco, plus after some research from a Maple Syrup sites, they said that the Grade A and Grade B have the same mineral content which is what I was going for, the difference is that Grade A is the first harvest of the tree and the Grade B is later in the season thus making it darker)
  • 8-10oz of pure spring water.
  • dash of organic Cayenne pepper 1/10 tsp.
You have to ease into it 3 days before you start the actual cleanse. So day 3 before the cleanse, you have to eat all RAW foods (nuts and seeds included).  2 days before nothing but fruit & veggie smoothies 1day before you drink 6c of freshly squeezed OJ, not that store bought stuff. It prepares your body to go with out solid food for as long as you want to take this cleanse. Some people out there have done it for up to 40 days!! I tip my hat off to them, but honestly I love chewing and food too much.
At first I was going to only do a 3 day cleanse, I started researching more and more, I made a commitment to doing 5days,  then decided to do 10 days (which is what is suggested for max results) Then you just follow this calendar:

Pinned Image

Ok so you might be asking what "salt water flush" or "Bedtime HL tea" mean? I will tell you
Salt water flush: every morning before you do anything else, you drink 32oz of pure water with 2 teaspoons of salt water. Swish that sucker hold your nose and down it as quick as possible to get it over with.  You must drink it within 20 min. I read horrors about this process and watched how disgusted people got tasting the salt water. I warmed my water up lukewarm put the 2tsp in put a Boba straw in my container and downed it. Oh I forgot to mention, when I brush my teeth I use a tongue scraper and after I use it I usually can't taste a thing....so I used that little trick. It worked! I was able to get it down NO PROBLEM. After drinking it rub your tummy clockwise 15-20 times, then half that counter-clockwise. Then just move around to have it go THRU you. It is a flush after all.
And goes THRU it does. 20 min later, do not take any chances and think that you only have flatulence. RUN to the bathroom, and dispose of those nasty toxins.
HL means Herbal Laxative Tea. Make sure it's organic. I used Traditional Medicinals Smooth Moove. I forgot to mention that the night before you start the cleanse you take your first laxative tea. Combined with the salt water flush you should see results quickly.

Ok, now that I put the basics down of what I'm doing, and if your searching this, you most likely know what the above consists of.... I will share my experience of the first day.

Day 1 on the Master Cleanse

I took my herbal tea (smooth move) the night before. And usually these teas give me some serious cramps and the runs. This time I think I was more cleaned out than usual, but the urge to go woke me up at 4:30ish in the a.m.  and then again around 6 ish.
I thought the rest of the day was going to go like this and I was going to have ugly effects, but it got better.
I got up did the salt water flush, chugged it and fed my girls breakfast. In the middle of breakfast.....well what needed to happen happened, several times. I suggest staying close to a bathroom for at least 2 hrs after the salt water flush, just in case.
I made the lemonade. I had read to make only one serving at a time, but after a couple of single servings I decided to make the whole days worth or 10 servings.
I had to clean up too many things after a single serve, just to turn around and do it again and clean up after my girls. It just got too much. SO I gave in making a whole days worth.
This is important: If you choose to make a whole days worth, DO NOT put the cayenne pepper in. According to others ( and one experience of mine) the longer it sits the hotter it gets.
What does the lemonade taste like? Well, to tell you the truth, I like it. Whats not to like? Lemons, maple syrup, water and some cayenne. It became a bit nostalgic for me. I'm Mexican and I grew up eating sweet, sour and spicy candy. It reminded me in particular of some lollipops I loved as a kid. The Vero Mango. So to me the lemonade was a hit.

I can see it getting on my nerves by the end of day 10 or even day 5 or so.LOL.
You know what they say "you CAN have too much of a good thing".
My craving level is minimal. The only time I feel like I struggled with today was when I was making yummy Mexican rice for dinner and had to saute garlic...and oh me oh my... YUM! My tummy got to talking then.  I love cooking with garlic, onion etc...and this part was hard for me. I also made enchiladas which I could have usually ate 4-5 of. No big....if I can conquer these temptations I can do anything. But the lingering smell of rice drove me a little batty. hahaha
My house STILL smells good from cooking. SO thing learned today, is maybe I can't cook for my family as I was hoping to do. I read many stories where people get rid of  ALL the food in their home. Well I'm a stay-at-home mommy and my hubby goes to school, so I don't have that luxury. I like feeding my family and making them food. What I think  I might do is just prepare some meals and have my family warm them up for dinner. I tried doing that, but there is still prep work to be done. SO if I fail (which I won't) its mainly because of that.
I did get heart burn due to too much cayenne so I toned it down a bit for the rest of the day and I felt fine.
So a quick pros and cons of the day

Pros:
  • I'm flushing my system out getting rid of who knows what.
  • I was able to survive the temptation of good food.
  • It was better than I expected.
  • The lemonade drink was good, and I enjoy it.
Cons:
  • I got heartburn
  • I feel weak ( I read that it soon turns into more energy)
  • I did get hungry (but was quickly taken care of with the lemonade. Strange but it tamed my hunger pangs)
  • I spent too much time thinking about the cleanse
  • Cooking for others, is proving to make this even more challenging.
I did take some before pictures, but I'm not sure how bold I will be if I can post them. I will tell you that my starting weight is 138.9. I will not weight myself everyday. I might do it every 3-5 days just out of curiousity. But what really matters is the end result. Plus the main reason I'm doing this is for health, not weight loss. The weight loss is just a plus. I've read that the weight loss is temporary anyway, if you go back to your old eating habbits, you gain it ALL back and then some. I have been trying to start a new journey for our family. I want to start eating "cleaner".

And so I conclude my day 1. I think I'm heading to bed early. I feel tired.
